Kira is artist originally from Northern Ontario who decided on studying fine art at the University of Ottawa and then never wanted to leave. Using a multitude of skills gained from workshops, research and creation, Kira crafts each piece by hand and takes the time to place heavy emphasis on the materiality of the pieces to ensure that the individual pattern and texture of the materials are respected, rather than being detracted from.
The pieces in Appellation line spring from a need to reuse resources. All silver pieces are created from precious metal clay, whose fine silver has been reclaimed from sources such as photographic films. The ceramic pieces come from vintage and thrifted pottery while the stained glass pieces are inherently one of a kind as no two sheets of stained glass are alike. Appellation favors Uroboros and Kokomo glass for their brilliant colours.
